VIrginia Highlands Festival

Hello, fellow artists — I hope you’ve been able to carve out a little time to paint, sketch, or simply soak in the beauty around you. Summer is in full swing here in southwest Virginia, and that means one thing: the Virginia Highlands Festival is upon us once again.

From July 24th through August 2nd, Abingdon will be alive with creativity, history, music, and craftsmanship. This year, I’m honored to have one of my paintings included in the juried exhibition at The Arts Depot — a centerpiece of the Virginia Highlands Festival and always a highlight for artists and visitors alike. If you’re local, or even just passing through, I hope you’ll make time to stop by and enjoy the incredible work on display. It’s a wonderful chance to see what regional artists have been creating and to experience the spirit of our community through art.

Just up the way, the Virginia Highlands Higher Education Center will host the juried antiques and vintage exhibits — a treasure trove for anyone who loves history, texture, and stories hidden in old objects.

And don’t forget to wander down to Barter Green, where the juried arts and crafts booths will be buzzing with makers, artisans, and creative souls sharing their work. There’s truly something for everyone — and more than enough inspiration to fill your sketchbooks for months.

For full details on events, locations, and schedules, visit the Virginia Highlands Festival 2026 website and plan your perfect festival day.

I hope to see you there — and I hope the festival brings you fresh inspiration, new connections, and maybe even a spark for your next painting.

Stay Inspired

Cindy
